Hi Jenny, hope you're sleeping right now!!! (along with the rest of you). I was sadly awake last night, had such a terrible occipital headache, it hurt just to have my head resting on the softest pillow... But, after 3 doses of the oxycodone (taken as prescribed, of course) it finally subsided, and I fell asleep around 3:30 am, and woke up at 7, headache free and having to get up to get ready for work. Well, actually a course, which is pretty interesting, it's an Addictions Awareness course for supervisors. It's so hard to not get too into it though, as I started taking correspondence courses to get my addictions counselling diploma. As I'm just on my first course, I haven't bothered with contacting the addictions office on my base, so today was good, as I got to speak to the base program director and chief counsellor. She said as soon as I get a couple of more of my diploma courses done, I can come in and start volunteering at the base addictions clinic, and they can "outsource" me to the civilian clinics in our city as well. Which is fantastic, as I need 1000 hours volunteer/working hours in order to qualify to take the certification exam, once I get my diploma. I'm not sure how I'm going to swing all this, while continuing to work full-time, and study!!! whew... At least I have 3 or 4 years to get this all done before I'm out of the military. It was so hard to sit there for 8 hours (well, had an hour for lunch). I had to keep getting up to stretch. Which is futile, I have to stand up to stretch due to the sciatica, but standing hurts my lower back... and sitting in an improper chair hurts my neck... There's no happy medium, lol. Anyways, I'm rambling now, if you weren't tired at the start, this should have helped put anyone to sleep I'm just pretty excited about my future plans now, getting into this has helped restore my motivvation with the correspodence course work (homework is such a drag, lol) Sweet dreams all!!!

I'm sad that happened to you at the clinic and waiting around for 3 hours can cause a flareup and more than usual pain brings up all the negative stuff too. Having pneumonia and recovering can also take a long time also. I do hope you start to fell better soon and nab that man of yours! lol. I want to see pictures of the wedding too. I'm going to make some organic chamomile tea my husband bought for me now so I can wind down, Yay we have an extra hour sleep tonight anyways. Take care. Charry

Sorry, I've been out of the loop lately and not on here. I finally took my kids to doc last week and my son (the 7 yr old) had the swine flu and my daughter (almost 14) had some viral thing. They were doing better by Saturday (Halloween) so I let them go trick-or-treating. I think this wiped them out cuz we didn't do too much on Sunday. I sent the kids to school on Monday and spent the day being lazy and just relaxing. Then Wednesday morning I got a call from my son's school nurse. He threw up all over his classroom and I needed to come get him. The poor thing just started recovering from the flu and now has some stomach bug. It seems he's doing much better today cuz him and the puppy have spent the day getting into trouble. I'm pretty sure I will sleep good tonight cuz I'm wiped out from yeliing at them lol. He's going back to school tomorrow, for sure!
Jenny,
So sorry to hear you had to postpone the wedding and still waiting for surgery for gall bladder in addition to recovering from pnemonia and increased pain levels. You've been in my thoughts and prayers and hope you are getting better and things start working out for the best for you.
Kelly,
I'm so glad that you have such positive goals set for yourself which helps your motivation. I just wish you could get some more sleep to help you out.
I hope everyone is doing well and sleeping better. I've been making up for my lack of sleep by taking naps during the day.

Hi Jenny!! Sorry to hear you were feeling so lonely!! I've been trying to stay off the computer at night, and just veg out on the couch in front of the tube, hoping to fall asleep. Speaking of nobody popping by, has anyone heard of Jay lately? Haven't seen him around on here in a while.
Today was a horrible pain day, I really don't know where it came from, but wow... And, of course, fit hit the shan at work right before I was to leave, so I ended up having to stay a little while longer and it was truly pure torture. By the time I got home I was in tears. Thank god for the IR pain meds, am feeling a little bit better, but it will take another 2 doses before I start to feel back to normal levels, so another 6 hours or so of this... but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. and I think I'm coming down with the nasty cold that's been going around, I hope it goes away quickly. Anyways, enough whining on my part, I know I'm preaching to the choir!! Hope you are all well, and doing as best as you can, and are getting a few good hours of sleep in at night!!

Well, I went to our base hospital yesterday, as it turns out, I have the flu, not H1N1, just the regular type. I think the worst of it is over, the body aches were so horrible, it seemed to magniofy my normal pain, I swear everything was at about a 9 for the first 2 days, no relief whatsoever, but the good thing is the oxycodone also acts as a cough suppressant, so it was acting as a dual agent. The pain has subsided now, and they gave me a couple of inhalers so I can breathe again, so am feeling better. I'm disappointed though, because for the past 4 years, I've been asked to lay a wreath at the rememberance day parade at a small village close to where I live, in honour of our Afghanistan fallen (I've done 2 tours myself), and this year, now I can't even go to a parade.
I love Boston terriers!!! I wanted to get one, but we got an Australian Blue Heeler instead. I used to have a jack russel, so I couldn't imagine having another small, hyper little dog again, LOL. Instead, we got a medium sized hyper dog, LMAO. We love him though. So much that he thinks he's a small terrier and a lap dog, lol. He's so spoiled.
Anyways, hope you guys are well, and well rested!!

Norman is SO smart. I can't beleive how fast he learns the commands. We put him in a good sized crate at 9pm at night. I have to so I can get stuff done around the house cuz he follows me everywhere. He gets up with us in the morning around 6:30am and then him and I take a nap around 9am for a couple of hours. He really is a joy to have around but it's very exhausting. Especially on the days my pain levels are up and I just want to lay on the couch and he wants to play or keep going outside to potty. He never gets sick of fetch.
Kelly....so sorry to hear that you have the flu. It doesn't help with the pain level. When I had it, it made my back ache more than usual. I hope you start feeling better.
Yes, he's hyper but I make the kids play and wrestle with him when they get home cuz I can't run around with him like he wants me too. He hates when I'm on my computer and will push his nose and toys on my hand while I'm typing. He's snoozing now so I can type but it's my nappy time too.
I should've been on the insomniac post last night cuz I couldn't get to sleep until after 2am.

Jenny- How are you feeling? Did you have the surgery yet? When has the wedding been postponed until?
Kelly- Are you starting to feel better from having the flu? It seems to hang around for about 2wks. I think us spiney's take longer to recover from sicknesses too. All that coughing wreaks havick on the back. I hope you are feeling well. Yes, chicken noodle soup and Orange Juice was what the kids and I lived on for 2 weeks.
I hope you are all doing well and getting some sleep.
Thanks for your comments about Norman. Yes he is very fiesty and has the most amazing personality. Since I home with him all day, he is very attached to me so he follows me everywhere. Ming, my surgery is tomorrow morning, the 12th at 8 in the morning. i have not set another date for the wedding because they all fall through. after the wedding i am thinking of the 25 of November. that should give me plenty of time to recover. i have my ring and a dress. just a few other little things to get together like where and who will marry me? LOL!!! thanks for asking Ming. i love my wedding ring. it is an 18k white gold band... just simple and beautiful... we have our song too, "Do you want to know a secret?" by the Beatles... so i still have something borrowed and something blue to get together as well. a friend has a tiara i can borrow so i may do that.. well, that is enough wedding talk. first, the surgery, then the weddding!!! take good care of our little friend.... hope you are feeling ok... get your rest!!! spiney hugsss, Jenny

Anyways, I'm rambling now, if you weren't tired at the start, this should have helped put anyone to sleep
I'm just pretty excited about my future plans now, getting into this has helped restore my motivvation with the correspodence course work (homework is such a drag, lol) Sweet dreams all!!!
Kelly

I'm sad that happened to you at the clinic and waiting around for 3 hours can cause a flareup and more than usual pain brings up all the negative stuff too. Having pneumonia and recovering can also take a long time also. I do hope you start to fell better soon and nab that man of yours! lol. I want to see pictures of the wedding too. I'm going to make some organic chamomile tea my husband bought for me now so I can wind down, Yay we have an extra hour sleep tonight anyways. Take care. Charry

Hope you feel better soon Jenny. You're allowed to complain here!!! I couldn't imagine waiting for 3 hours, 10 minutes in those awful waiting room chairs has my sciatic nerve screaming at me, my leg is burning and my foot is numb, not to mention my back and neck!!! I haven't slept yet tonight, and it's now 5 am. ugghh... Anyways, hope that elusive sleep fairy finds you quickly, you need it to get better!!

well, i am beginning to think we don't need "insomniac buddies" anymore.
noone is stopping by! this is a good thing if everyone is sleeping. on the other hand, if noone cares to stop by anymore, there is no need for the posting to go on... just a thought from someone alittle bit tired and alot lonely tonight.

God Bless All My Spiney Friends!

Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. I've been trying to stay off the computer late at night. I've been sleeping a little better since we got the puppy cuz he poops me out. It's non stop 12hrs or more of fetch and needing to go outside to go potty or chewing on things he's not supposed to.

Kelly

I call him my lil' shadow lol. It is tough on the days I'm hurting to keep getting up and letting him out. Luckily he naps with me for a long time in the mid-morning.
