Stomach muscle spasms?

I believe that I have thoractic problems, but haven't had any MRI or xrays. I had C5/6 fused in June and then C4/5/6 in August. Since then my upper back between the shoulder blade and just down from them has been aching like I've been stabbed. Worse in the morning when I wake up. Yesterday around noon, I started coughing hard and my stomach muscle cramped up. It took me some time to keep arching my back and stretching back to get them to stop. I'm already taking Zanaflex as a muscle relaxer. I'm also aching in my ribs.

Does anyone else have stomach catches or cramping up? Does this sound like T problems? My NS isn't wanting to "look" for anything else after two C fusions back to back. He's useless as far as aftercare. I may can get my GP to order some tests. Not sure which way to address this. I have a hot tub and would love to live in it, believe me. One of my neck MRI's did show T1 bulging, but I guess that's as far down as a cervical MRI goes. This hurts so much.

HI Candle I have a herniated

HI Candle

I have a herniated disk at t1/2 pressing on the t1 nerve root. I'm still trying to find out what that is supposed to mean.

Most of my pain in collar bone, shoulder and upper back. I have noticed recently that my mid-day I am getting some pain that i would describe as an ache that seems to wrap around from my back to my ribs in the front. It doesn't stay for long - maybe 10 minutes. I'm thinking that it might be when i sit for too long at work.

From what I can find the thoracic spine seems to be the most stable and resistant to injury and the area they don't like to touch. Maybe what you are getting is muscle cramps and spasms because your body is trying to protect your neck. I had one doctor say that my pain was because my neck muscles were guarding my spine injury.

You might want to try an ortho or a neurologist. I don't put much faith in GPs unless you have a sinus infection. Otherwise I like to go right to a specialist.

Hey Kris I am seeing a Neuro-surgeon

but it's been too soon June and Aug. for my two cervical fusions that he won't look for anything else and relates everything to my neck as you are saying. I know that all of my upper back and neck muscles are screwed up. I have the cat claws feeling in between my shoulder blades. It feels like if you peeled up my blades, what would be under there would be angry and red and so sore. I was just asking if stomach/rib cramps could be related to thoracic disc/vertebra problems? Or if anyone that was diagnosed with T-disc problems had those symptoms?

I do know that my C6/7 is bone on bone and my NS didn't want to plate it, but just let it go. He doesn't believe in 3 level fusions, even after saying that most people had issues with C4/5/6/7 which is 3 levels. My last MRI also showed my C7/T1 was bulging. After sitting for a bit, my upper back gets very tired and starts spasming. But the stomach cramps/spasms is new. I have to arch my back backwards to get them to stop. Sometimes it's only on one side in my ribs and I have to twist the other way to stretch it out. I have cramps in my legs and feet quite a bit. But my upper back is so uncomfortable lately. It hurts to breathe.

me too

i too suffer from the knife thru the back into the sternum pain. I would find myself rubbing my sternum to ease the pain. It is non stop and just so frustrating. In my case most believe that this is referred from the neck. I had 2 mri's on the t area and unremarkable. I would have bet the house...there was something in the t area.

Do you mean spasms at the end of the rib cage area from back to front (stomach muscles)? that is where i will experience spasms...when things get really bad. It is not a constant, but this is a red flag to how things will go for the day, if i am having spasms at the lower end of my torso the lower rib area.

hope you find releif

I have had spasms in my

I have had spasms in my stomach recently, but I'm not sure what has caused them. I have to try to change my position until they subside. I have also had some pains in my chest on the left side at the front, especially when I am exercising on my hands and knees. I also sometimes get mild pins and needles in my arms and hands, and often have aching arms.
Having read things on this site, I wonder if this is all due to problems in my thorasic spine.
My main problems are in my lumbar spine.
I sometimes feel like I am falling apart!
