Chiropractic Care for Back Pain and Neck Pain

Encompassing the techniques and treatments that chiropractors use to help alleviate back pain and neck pain, chiropractic care is a comprehensive term. Chiropractic manipulations, during which the doctor of chiropractic applies specific adjustments to treat joint dysfunction or the altered position and functioning of the vertebra (subluxation), often first come to mind when thinking about chiropractic care.

However, chiropractic care is more than just spinal manipulation, and may include various chiropractic techniques that mobilize blood flow and accelerate the healing process, and the use of different types of equipment (physiologic therapeutics) to supplement treatment of the patient's symptoms. For example, a chiropractor may incorporate ultrasound, electrical muscle and nerve stimulation, hydrotherapy, exercise programs, etc., as part of the chiropractic treatment plan. Patients should take some time during the initial consultation to learn more about the chiropractic techniques and treatments that are offered by the chiropractor.
